Eligibility requirements
- Pursuant to Transport Canada CARs 406.03, you can contract a freelance instructor for private flying lessons in Canada if you, or a family member, own a share in the aircraft you wish to train on.
How freelance instruction works
- Rather than enrolling in a fixed flight school program, you work with one of our instructors on a customized training plan.
- The plan is built around the aircraft you have access to, your availability, and your licence or rating goals.
- This route can cost more than the traditional route for various reasons, but it can provide increased flexibility and a more relaxed training experience.
Aircraft ownership or share requirements
- Because freelance instruction under CARs 406.03 requires an ownership share, this service is best suited to pilots or families who already own, or are considering purchasing, a share in an aircraft.
- TVA aviation consulting can support that process if you do not yet have an aircraft share.
